My New Obsession

So winter break started a few days ago..

I've been pretty obsessed with the online football manager game, 'Top Eleven.' It'll most likely be what I'll be playing for the rest of this winter break.

Just to let you know.

Oh yeah, new posts of YUGIOH coming soon.

Dragons Collide Structure Deck Review

Cover card(s): Darkflare Dragon (left) & Lightpulsar Dragon (right)

The TCG version of this deck is actually coming up pretty soon, since it is not even out yet in the OCG. Here is the info about this deck:

Dragons of LIGHT and DARK have put aside their differences to unite as one unstoppable force! This Structure Deck includes powerful Dragons, Lightsworn monsters, and some of the best DARK and LIGHT monsters, all merged together into a Dueling juggernaut. More combinations await when additional LIGHT Dragons are unleashed in Galactic Overlord booster packs (coming May 2012).

This Structure Deck Contains: 37 Common Cards, 2 Ultra Rare Cards, 1 Super Rare Card, 1 Rulebook, 1 Game Mat, 1 Dueling Guide

lol OMG 2 ULTRA RARES?

Personally, I don't think this deck will have a big effect on just dragons or lightsworns for the game, but maybe Chaos. I'm actually predicting that Chaos will become top tier because nothing in YuGiOh! makes sense. With BLS coming back, and now this structure deck. It seems to me that they're making more reprints of lightsworns for more buyers of this product. However, it looks like a great collector's item and the 2 cover cards have decent effects and look really good.

Lightpulsar, especially is a great addition to Chaos/Twilight because of its annoying effect of keep coming back from the graveyard. It can be special summoned from hand to field and graveyard to field and also Darkflare Dragon is a target for Lightpulsar. And also, Darkflare is like Foolish Burial and Future Fusion? hm, What is Konami trying to do? In conclusion, Lightpulsar is A LOT better in stats, effect, but maybe not artwork haha.

Here are the cover cards' effects:

(Effects are not 100% accurately translated to English.)

Lightpulsar Dragon:
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by banishing 1LIGHT and 1 DARK monsters from your Graveyard. You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by sending 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monsters from your hand to the Graveyard. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 5 or higher DARK Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Darkflare Dragon:
You can banish 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn: You can send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your hand and Deck to the Graveyard; banish 1 card from either player's Graveyard.

TCG Rarity Bumps: Maxx "C"?

I assumed that the card price would stop at around $35 but no it's going up to around $45?

I get that Maxx "C" is a great stopper for special summoning but really? Forty five flippin dollars?

Maybe it's just me, but this seems way too ridiculous. This card should've just been a super rare max from the start. LOL KONAMI

Focusing on Wanghu!

I really want to emphasize on this whole Wangu Anti-Meta Beast deck idea. Augustin Herrera's build in Indianapolis really got my attention. It was a build from the last format, but with just a little tweaks, it can be a devastating competitor for the meta this format too.

First of all, you have King Tiger Wanghu, which is a great against Gadgets, most T.G monsters, Blackwings, Underworlds, and some plants. The problem with Wanghu is that it needs so much protection. Having 3 Horn of the Phantom Beast, 2-3 Forbidden Chalice should do the trick but takes so much of the deck.

Other monsters like Barbaros & Thunder King work great. Barbaros combos great with Horn of the Phantom Beast and also Skill Drain.

Skill Drain is a MUST for this deck. In case your plans fail of keeping Wanghu out on the field, Skill Drain and Barbaros is your back up. Now let's say your strategy of shutting down with Wanghu works. Having 3 Skill Drain in your deck can really be dead draws so that's a risk you gotta take.

Of course Reborn Tengu is needed. Great combo again with Horn of the Phantom Beast and for quicker monster line-up, since decks like these play around only 15-17 monsters.

Other cards you can play with are Thunder King, Doomcaliber Knight, Banisher of the Radiance preferably side decked), Fossil Dyna, & Pitch-Black Warwolf. All these cards are really just basics of a strong anti-meta build. You can make this anti meta to the extreme by playing 3 Fossil Dyna, 3 Thunder King, and 3 Doomcaliber but if you wanna, just make a anti-meta deck. :P

Wanghu can be greatly used, but it all depends on your protection for him. Think of your offense too, always have 3 Burden of the Mighty, (even if it may look like a dead draw) it will probably be quickly MST'ed a couple of times around. I personally want to try out an own build and even might have a deck profile later on.

That's it for today. Until my next post, peace!

Short Review: Wave 2 Tins

We can FINALLY get our 'easy' copies of solemn Warning, and also Fossil Dyna! The other promos look pretty sick too:

Just gotta say, WTF is The Tyrant Neptune doing here? garbageeeee

I'm REALLY looking forward to 'Number 10: Illumiknight' the card itself because of it's pretty interesting effect. It basically lets you get rid of a dead card in your hand (up to 3 times). It may look like it's an annoyance to get him out but decks like Offering Gadgets can make it with ease.

'Number 10: Illumiknight' Full effect:

3 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1
card from your hand to the Graveyard and draw 1 card.

Are Blackwings doomed?

Because of the banlist being released and all, many are saying that Blackwings will now be "shunned out" or they're just going to less played.

Honestly, I am sad to see Kalut to go to 1, which no one really predicted, and will leave Blackwings' defense wide open..

Icarus Attack going down to 2 WILL slow down field advantage. And also, we lost a beloved level 6, Goyo :[

I think it's fair that Kalut can be replaced with a 2nd Vayu (if you run 1), or a another Spirit Reaper. Because it stays on the field for at least 2 turns, you can draw a Gale out or use Shura to get a tuner out for faster synchro-ing.

That's all for now. I know it's short, I'm a lazy ass. But I just don't think Blackwings are over yet..

Pot of Duality & Solemn Warning not needed?

I ran a Blackwing deck at locals today w/o any Pod or Solemn Warning and it did pretty well. Here is how I did:

Blackwings 1-2

Blackwings 1-2

GBs 2-1

So yeah, I ended up overall losing to both other BW decks but they ran Pod and Warnings of course. Since I don't have either of them, I did:

PoD -> Cards for Black Feathers
Solemn Warning -> Dark Bribe & Blackwing Backlash

Cards for black Feathers actually came in very handy because I just fucking hated when I had just Kalut in my hand. So i usually end up dumping Kalut, use Cards for Black Feathers and end up with Shura or something. Cards for BF + Allure + same turn = EPIC

Dark Bribe was probably a terrible tech choice, since it just gave so much to my oppenent. I ended up using it once, and the guy drew a Dark Hole, Dark Armed Dragon, and then game. I was stupid for doing that, since I didn't even notice his graveyard.

Blackwing Backlash was very good, considering how fast I got my monsters to the grave, because I was overpowering with draw power. >:D Again, Cards for BF + Allure + same turn = EPIC

But I guess PoD and Solemn Warning do help in decks, and make it faster. But as a budget player, I'll fix that. The deck didn't too bad, and I'll post the decklist soon on Youtube.

Price Drops

If ANYONE has noticed, over the years, Konami has been dropping the prices of cards in GENERAL. I mean, back in the day, CCV used to cost $350 USD , and DAD was around $250 USD.

It's been a lot easier to complete decks these days, just around about $50. (excluduing PoD, warning)

Tele-DaD used to cost a lot of money to make, but since Malicious' and Dad was reprinted for the x20000 time, it's been very easy to gather all the cards. (also the banlist)

Excluding tourney cards, the AVERAGE price of usable cards are around $50-60.

I actually respect Konami for doing this because it gives so much chance for budget players and for new players to feel at ease entering the game, and not be overwhelmed by overpriced cards.

This doesn't mean that there aren't staple cards that don't cost a lot of money, like Solemn Warning, which I dearly own none of.

NOOOOOO ! !

I just wish it gets limited or something..

The Next Big Archetypes (March 2010 Banlist)

First of all, I think Insects will FTW in the next format :D. I'm just joking around, but who knows?

Konami brought back the most unpredictable card, Dark Hole in the last format. Also, Rescue Cat was banned a little after a super rare version of it was released. Pissed lots of players a lot for sure.

Instead of like everyone who talk about decks who have gained lots of attention, I mainly want to focus on other decks/archetypes that haven't.

First of all, Genex monsters were first introduced in Duel Terminal and then Hidden Arsenal 2 and have not gained much popularity. I think there's much support to make them into an alright deck. Most of them are low level and not much ATK, but have effects which can summon out each other from the deck. They mostly depend on synchros, so I guess oppression pretty much stops them.

Fabled support were also introduced in Duel Terminal (not sure which one) and have continued on with Hidden Arsenal 2 & 3, DREV, and STBL. The deck itself is not very considerate enough for players to think about playing this, but you can't blame them. Fabled's need tons of new support to work better in the next format. Konami just through in a bunch of useless stuff, except Grimro, and a bunch of weird ass synchros. ;D

Dragunities without a doubt will make a huge impact in the next format. The worst the banlist can do is maybe semi-limit Phalanx. As everyone knows, the structure is coming out and this archetype will prevail!

Dandywarrior / Quickdraw - I fear that Debris Dragon and Quickdraw Syncrhon will get heavily hit on the banlist. (get it?? like Heavy Storm got banned?? HAHAHA)
Debris is too strong right now, considering it can't even be stopped by Skill Drain. Either Debris has to go, or Black Rose...but I kinda want Black rose to stay.

What will Konami do?! No one knows!!! I wish Tele - Dad or Little City format would come back. Ahhhh, the old days. When Stratos was at 3 and Reinforcement was at 3. :DD

Australia vs. Korea

Watching the game right now. 2nd half just started. In 1st half, Korea has 49% ball possession and lead 1 to 0. Very nerve wrecking moment right now@ haha let's see how the 2nd half turns out.

2011 Asian Cup

As some of you know, the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar has started.

Besides playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, I do have another hobby which is football. (soccer) What's better than playing the game is watching it in my opinion.

There are 16 qualified teams, and a total of 32 matches.
I'm from a Korean family, and yes I'm rooting for Korea in the Asian Cup.

1st Match: Korea 2 - 1 Bahrain (Group C)

From this match, I learned that Korea has improved a lot on their passing, but could improve on defense. They cut through ways and got to the goal, but some of their shots on goal were way off.

Park Ji Sung was not at his best, but was a great key player, and another player, Koo Ja Cheol, was excellent, providing both of the goals for Korea.

The next match for Korea is against Australia. I don't know why Australia is in the continent of Asia, and I fear that Korea will tie 2-2.

Australia has a strong offense, and I hope Korea can defend them, and hopefully score the first goal. No matter what happens, it will be a very fierce match.

I believe the last time Australia and Korea went against was September 5th, 2009, and Korea won 3 - 1.

I think the cup final will be very interesting and I hope Korea gets in but even if they don't, it'll be one hell of a game. :D

Storm of Ragnarok promos?

It's not confirmed yet, but by the rumors spreading around already, I think the 2 promos to be for the Storm of Ragnarok SE is Light and Darkness Dragon and Hand of The Six Samurai.

Some sites who are pre-selling these special editions have posted that the promos will be those 2 cards. Nothing is confirmed with the official YGO site or Shriek but there is a high guarantee that this information is correct.

Now, these cards in my opinion very relates to what the meta game will be in a couple of months.

Six Samurai will get tons of support in Storm of Ragnarok and it seems Konami is allowing players to get Hand of the Six Samurai easier, and trying to promote the newer cards. I know a couple of players who absolutely hate this card's effect, so we'll just have to see how Hand will be played.

Now LADD has been reprinted a couple of times and have been around for a while. This card was mainly seen in Monarch decks, and some but not that much in Dandywarriors. Currently with Forgnarchs gaining popularity, this card might be used a lot more.

Lastly, everyone was probably hoping something like Pot of Duality to be one of the promos (like me), but the card unfortunately came out only 2 sets ago. I think the best chance we have of having PoD reprinted is Gold Series 4 or 5 (after prices drop down), or Turbo Pack 4?

OCG has the best Deck Boxes

I was actually just wandering about this, where TCG normally sells deck boxes which only about 75 cards can fit in. In OCG, its's more common to find a deck box twice the size most TCG players use.

But of course, you can find a huge deck box anywhere, I just think it's more common in OCG. Just a thought. :D

Storm of Ragnarok Sneak Peak Card: Vortex the Whirlwind

By the name, I first thought it was a Blackwing synchro and got all excited, but I was wrong. But of course, the card itself is much related to Blackwings.

Wind/Winged-Beast

Synchro

Effect/5/2100/700

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged-Beast Type monsters

When this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower Winged-Beast Type monster from your deck.

It kinda is a no brainer that this card was meant for Blackwings, or even the new archetype, Dragunities.

I really thought the promo would be somehow related to Six Sams, but I guess Konami wants to keep their prices for the new Sim Samurai staples.

The card basically dies in order to search out something for a bigger cause. For example, it can special summon Phalanx for Dragunties, in order to synchro summon.

I wouldn’t exactly say Vortex the Whirlwind is “fast” but it can summon out support cards a lot faster. (especially desirable tuners.)

I don’t think playing 3 Vortex in an extra deck is necessary for Blackwings but 3 for Dragunities, since their main objective is to send monsters to the spell and trap zone, and then instant synchro.

Sin Cyber End Dragon

This card is being released in Febuary in the movie pack for OCG, but I do not know when for TCG or if this card will be even included for TCG movie pack.

I was checking Shriek today and came upon a card in the upcoming movie pack. The card is called Sin Cyber End Dragon.

Dark/Machine - Effect/10/4000/2800
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing from play 1 "Cyber End Dragon" from your Extra Deck. There can only be 1 face-up "Malefic" monster on the field. Other monsters you control cannot declare an attack. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card.

This card is part of the new Sin series introduced in the upcoming movie pack. Along with Sin Cyber End, there are Sin Blue-Eyes, Sin Red-Eyes, Sin Paradox Dragon, and others. (maybe Sin Rainbow Dragon??)

Just by having Cyber End Dragon in your extra deck, you can special summon this guy out. I'm guessing Sin Cyber End Dragon belongs in a Malefic/Cyber Dragon Deck.

Or you could make a deck with a bunch of field spells, get Terraforming, and special summon Cyber Sin End. Its' actually not a bad idea, and have 3 Cyber Dragons, and call it a TerraCyber deck. XD Who knows? This card might lead to a new deck type.

Making a Sin Deck would be almost impossible, since each Sin card refers their effect to their "non-sin" versions.

TCG Talk: Dragunity Monsters

As everyone knows, a Dragunity structure deck will be released later this year, (since it's 2 am in the morning, January 1st, 2011.) Dragunities will get much support from it.

Dragunities are simply just an archetype here in TCG so far, but over somewhere far in Japan, they are a lot better with much more support.

So far for us, all we have is Duel Terminal, HA03, and Starstrike Blast for Dragunities. The support in Starstrike Blast is crap so don't even worry about it. (only Vajrayana and Gae Dear.) Duel Terminal has given the most support for Dragunities for TCG, but soon with the new structure deck, Dragunities will finally be made into a managable, standard deck.

Important cards:

Dragunity Dux & Dragunity Phalanx (HA03) - These 2 cards look promising enough to be ran 3 in a Dragunity Deck. Phalanx in the graveyard, use Dux's effect, special summon Phalanx and then BAM, a level 6 Syncrho. (maybe Gae Bulg?)
Dragunity synchros so far for TCG are only available in boosters.

Dragunity Tribus (HA03) - This card basically searches out for Phalanx and dumps it to the graveyard and then Phalanx waits for Dux's effect. In other words, Tribus is one bad ass. :D

Dragunity Legionnaire (HA03) - Basically similar to Dux. Special summons Phalanx, Phalanx special summons itself, and then level 5 synchro.

Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg, & Varjrayana (STBL) - I'm not really going to talk about these 2 since I have no idea how they will be played post the structure deck but I don't think they're prices will go any higher than $5 until then.

What's interesting is that some Dragunities themselves are Winged Beast types like Dux so we don't have to find random Winged Beast type monsters for this deck to work.

Icarus Attack of course will be a great addition to the deck. And also for us for TCG, have not gotten any promising spells/traps for this new archetype and won't until March with the structure deck.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon can be handy for Dragunities. I guess it can special/normal summon Dragunity Tribus to send Dragunity Phalanx to the graveyard. Or something else fancy. I haven't looked for all the possibilities. Red-Eyes and Phalanx make a level 12 synchro so yeah... XDD
That's all for now. I know I didn't cover much of the cards, but I wanna do that after I research more of them. xD

Peace. and Happy New Year!
